How to Charge Your Electric Scooter During Load-Shedding in Lahore

May 8, 20265 min read

The number-one worry Lahore buyers raise about going electric is simple: "What about load-shedding?" It is a fair question — but in practice, charging an electric scooter around Lahore's power schedule is far easier than people expect. Here is exactly how to do it, with no stress.

The Short Answer

You charge overnight, once. A full charge takes roughly 7–8 hours for a graphene battery and 4–5 hours for a lithium battery, and a single full charge covers a typical day of city riding. Because you plug in before bed and unplug in the morning, a couple of hours of load-shedding overnight rarely affects you at all — the charger simply resumes when power returns and finishes before you wake.

Why Load-Shedding Is Less of a Problem Than You Think

  • You don't need a full charge every single day. Most commuters ride 25–35 km a day, while models offer 80–110 km of range. You can go two or three days between charges, so a missed charging window is easily absorbed.
  • Charging is flexible. Unlike a petrol stop, you can charge at any time power is available — overnight, midday, or whenever your area has electricity.
  • Graphene batteries handle interrupted charging well. Power cutting in and out during a charge does not harm them; charging simply pauses and resumes.

Practical Tips for Charging Around Load-Shedding

  1. Charge overnight. Off-peak hours usually have the most stable supply, and you wake up ready to ride.
  2. Know your area's schedule. Plug in at the start of a known power window so charging finishes before the next cut.
  3. Keep a buffer. Top up when you reach 30–40% rather than running to empty — that way an unexpected cut never leaves you stranded.
  4. Charge at the office or campus too. If you have a socket where you spend the day, a daytime top-up adds flexibility — especially handy with a faster-charging lithium model.
  5. Use the original charger that came with the scooter for the safest, most efficient charging.

Lithium for Even More Flexibility

If your area has heavy load-shedding and short power windows, a Phylion Lithium model charges faster (4–5 hours), which makes it easier to grab a full charge in a single window. Evee's lithium options include the Gen-Z Lithium and the flagship S1 Air Lithium family. For most people, though, a graphene model charged overnight is perfectly sufficient.

What About a Backup?

Many Lahore homes already run a UPS or solar setup. An electric scooter's charger draws modest power and can often be topped up from these during outages — another reason load-shedding rarely interrupts ownership. (Always use the original charger and follow safe charging practice.)

The Bottom Line

Load-shedding is a manageable routine, not a dealbreaker. Plug in overnight, keep a sensible buffer, and you will rarely think about it again — all while spending around PKR 500–600 a month on charging instead of thousands on petrol. Explore the range on our models page and price list.
