How Much Does It Cost to Charge an Electric Scooter in Pakistan?

May 7, 20265 min read

Before buying, every sensible rider wants the real number: how much does it cost to charge an electric scooter in Pakistan? The short answer is — very little. This guide breaks down the actual charging cost, compares it directly with petrol, and shows what it means for your monthly budget.

The Quick Answer

Charging an electric scooter at home in Pakistan costs roughly PKR 500–600 a month for a typical commute of around 1,500 km. Compare that to PKR 9,000–10,000 a month in petrol for a 70cc bike covering the same distance, and the saving speaks for itself.

How the Cost Works

Your charging cost depends on three things:

  1. Battery size — measured in watt-hours; bigger batteries store (and cost) a little more per full charge, but also go further.
  2. Your electricity tariff — the per-unit rate on your bill.
  3. How far you ride — more kilometres mean more charging, but the per-kilometre cost stays tiny.

Because an electric scooter draws only a modest amount of power to fill its battery, even a full charge costs a small fraction of what a petrol top-up does for the same range.

A Real-World Monthly Example

Let's use a common Lahore commute of about 1,500 km a month:

  • Electric scooter: roughly PKR 500–600 in home charging.
  • 70cc petrol bike: roughly PKR 9,000–10,000 in fuel — before oil changes and servicing.

That is a saving of around PKR 8,500 every single month, or over PKR 100,000 a year — enough to cover a large part of the scooter's price in fuel savings alone.

What About Higher Mileage?

The more you ride, the bigger the saving. A delivery rider doing 2,500–3,000 km a month might spend PKR 12,000–18,000+ on petrol, while the electric equivalent stays in the low hundreds to around a thousand rupees. (See our guide on electric scooters for delivery riders for more.)

Tips to Keep Charging Costs Low

  • Charge at home overnight on your normal tariff.
  • Don't overcharge — unplug once full and use the original charger.
  • Ride in Eco mode when you want to stretch range and reduce how often you charge.
  • Keep tyres properly inflated — under-inflated tyres waste energy.

The Bigger Picture: Total Cost of Ownership

Charging is only part of the savings. Electric scooters also skip engine oil, spark plugs, air filters, and frequent tune-ups. Add it all up and the total cost of ownership is dramatically lower than a petrol bike — which is the real reason so many Lahore riders are switching. Compare models and prices on our price list, and spread the upfront cost with installment plans.
